CASE inspired and supported me in developing, establishing and expanding an alumni relations programme at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory which has grown threefold in the last decade. The programme plays an increasingly significant role in EMBL’s mission to support life sciences in Europe and beyond. • Higher Education Funding Council for England could do more to encourage the sector to improve retention of students; • higher education institutions could do more to improve retention of students. The report includes an analysis of HESA data about student retention and completion and case studies of higher education institutions.

  A number of studies have identified the positive impact of time management. Time management skills have been shown to have a positive impact on student learning and student outcomes (Kearns & Gardiner, ; Kelly, ; McKenzie & Gow, ) and Krause and Coates () report that the capacity to successfully manage their time is the foundation of students developing good study . Health education is an enormous subject area but this text does an excellent job covering the most important topics. The comprehensive nature of it topic coverage does come at the cost of not being comprehensive within any single topic- this book is an overview that provides an excellent framework for further study and exploration.

College to higher education and describes ways in which GNVQ programs might be enhanced for progression. The second part of the bulletin offers some advice and guidance on establishing agreements, supporting progression to higher education from GNVQs, between centers offering GNVQs, and universities and colleges of higher education.

This bulletin describes the use of new qualifications, the General National Vocational Qualifications (GNVQ), which have been developed in Great Britain to qualify students for admittance to higher education through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS).

The first part of the bulletin discusses the suitability of GNVQs as a route from school or college to higher education and. Another study of Advanced GNVQ students concluded that staff in further education and higher education have a role to play in reassuring students that appropriate study skills can be learned and.

On 14 July, education secretary Gavin Williamson announced plans to rationalise higher technical qualifications and promote their benefits through a new public awareness campaign.
